Tarek Obaid is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of PSI. In his capacity as Chief Executive Officer, Tarek is responsible for the Group’s overall management, strategy and high-level political relationships. Tarek has been instrumental in securing important investment opportunities for the Group as well as attracting senior management to PetroSaudi. In addition to PetroSaudi, Tarek is a founder of the New College of the Humanities, London, and investor in a variety of businesses including financial services, technology, education and real estate. Tarek’s charitable involvements include a center for reconstructive transplant surgery at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. His previous executive roles include Banque Piguet and Bankers Trust. In addition to the companies Tarek founded, he sits on the boards of Global Environmental Management Services Saudi Arabia and Bellevue Education. Tarek is also a member of the Saudi-British Business Council. Tarek is a graduate of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.
Patrick Mahony is the Chief Investment Officer of PSI. In his capacity as Chief Investment Officer, Patrick is responsible for the general risk management and financial structuring of PSI’s investments as well as the sourcing, structuring and management of the Group’s transactions. Prior to joining PSI, he was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Ashmore Investment Management Limited where he was responsible for investments in India, Turkey, the Philippines, Malaysia, the Middle East and any investments related to oil and gas. Patrick also sat on the investment committees of Ashmore’s businesses in both India and Turkey. Prior to Ashmore, he worked in New York and Hong Kong for Stephens Financial Group and The Blackstone Group. Sectors that Patrick has invested in include Energy, Natural Resources, Telecom, Healthcare, Real Estate, Education and Waste Management. In addition to various PSI investee companies, Patrick currently sits on the boards of Bellevue Education, Arto Radyo and a private Indian real estate company. Patrick is a graduate of University College London.
Timothy Buckland is the General Counsel of PSI. In this capacity he is responsible for the Group’s legal function, including the execution of joint ventures, acquisitions and divestments, as well as the management of global risk and compliance. Tim is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. Prior to joining PSI, he was employed with international law firm White & Case LLP, specialising in mergers and acquisitions within the global energy sector. Prior to that, he was employed with the London and Paris offices of international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Tim graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts.
